Hot springs Information

All of our Hot Springs facilities are OPEN 24 Hours* a day and are the only Hot Springs in Ouray with these hours. All of the Hot Springs require clothing.

*There are no children allowed in the hot springs from 10pm-8am.

The mineral hot springs rise from deep under the earth. It reaches the surface at a temperature of 156 degrees. We add cold spring water to cool the mineral waters to a safe temperature. No chemicals of any kind are added to the indoor and outdoor hot springs tubs. The large pool does have some chlorine to help eliminate algae growth. The algae you may see on the sides of the tub are natural to the water source and are completely harmless to people.

Perhaps a few of the reasons these waters were held sacred by the Ute Indians was the wide variety of minerals thought to be rejuvenating and the mineral water's low sulfur content. Giving it a fresher, cleaner smell rather than what is found in most mineral springs. Minerals found in the hot springs are: Zinc, Sulfate, Solenium, Potassium, Phosphate, Nitrate, Molybdenum, Maganese, Magnesium, Iron, Lithium, Ammonia, Barium, Bicarbonate, Boron, Calcium, Chloride, and Flouride.

Indoor Adults Only Sanctuary (Pictured below)

Ouray Hot SpringsOuray Hot Springs

This is the only tub of its kind in Ouray. The building itself was an addition to the existing house (built in 1893). The hot tub room was constructed over 30 years ago. In March of 2013 we completely renovated the indoor adult’s only sanctuary. The only thing original is the structure. The tub is lined with smooth colorful river stones and has a 4 inch pebble stone bottom. The water comes from our Hot Springs Vault at about 156 degrees Fahrenheit. We cool it down to 112 degrees and by time it reaches the drain the temperature lowers to about 104 degrees. All of our springs are in-out water systems. This means that everyday it’s like stepping into a new hot springs. One benefit of having unlimited hot water is the ability to use it constructively. The hand-carved baked stone floor and the river stone bench (located in the bottom left of the picture) is naturally heated. This makes winter a lot better now that you don’t have to rush directly to your room. Dry off inside and enjoy the color changing LED towel wall. There is a timer to activate bubbles in a small portion of the tub. This is perfect because some guests like the Jacuzzi feature and some do not. Last, but not least. There are great views from the many windows in this room. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the surroundings.

This outdoor soaking tub is great for a relaxing outdoor ambiance. The waterfall feature brings in the natural hot springs at about 110 degrees Fahrenheit. By the time it reaches the drain it will have cooled to about 102 degrees. The waterfall itself is a work of art. You can see the makers plaque infused into the stone structure. The tub is great for a beautiful night in summer. The plants and flowers will be in full bloom and create a wonderful backdrop to the mountains around you. There are no jets in this tub and it does have the in-out water feature. Natural algae associated with hot springs may be seen. This does not mean the tub is dirty. This is a natural process that we try to maintain as often as possible. There are no children allowed in the hot springs from 10pm-8am. These hours are reserved for our adult guests.

This large outdoor pool is like a big hot tub. It offers one of a kind mountain views from the warm ambient tempered water. The weather can affect the temperature of the pool but it almost never falls below 90. degrees. Its max temperature has been recorded at 101 degrees. The steam rises abundantly from the surface in winter and creates a dance of mist floating into the sky. There is also an LED energy efficient light that changes colors at night! This is a great place to relax and soak in some sun or just float around and let the hours pass. There is no lifeguard on duty. There are no children allowed in the hot springs from 10pm-8am. These hours are reserved for our adult guests.
